Napa Valley Legacy Experience

Some journeys are measured in miles. This one is measured in memory.

The Legacy Experience is a six-hour passage through the soul of Napa Valley — unhurried, immersive, and steeped in the romance of a golden era of rail. Aboard exquisitely restored 1915 Pullman cars, the valley unfolds outside your window in slow, cinematic motion: vine rows stretching toward the hills, sun-warmed estates, and the kind of quiet beauty that rewards those who take the scenic route.

The journey begins with a welcome glass of sparkling wine and gathers pace onboard an open-air Pullman car, where your Maître d' leads an intimate tasting as the train glides past the iconic Napa Valley welcome sign — a landmark standing since 1949, and a fitting prologue to all that follows.

In St. Helena, you'll step off the train and into history. Charles Krug, the oldest winery in Napa Valley and the birthplace of California's tasting room tradition, offers a private pour and a story that predates the region's fame. Next door in spirit, if not geography, V. Sattui welcomes you with small-lot, award-winning wines amid Italianate gardens that feel worlds away from the ordinary. Between them, these two estates carry more than two centuries of winemaking heritage — and the wines reflect every year of it.

Back aboard, a four-course meal arrives as the landscape drifts past: seasonal, locally inspired, crafted and served with the kind of care that makes a dining car feel like the finest table in the valley.

The return to Napa comes with the unhurried glow of a day well spent: eleven wines tasted, two legendary estates explored, four courses savored, and the easy camaraderie that only a day like this seems to create. The Legacy Experience doesn't just show you Napa Valley. It gives you the version of it worth remembering.
